Uses:
  • leaf and seed extracts are antibacterial
  • root cures rattlesnake bite
  • crushed fresh leaves, poultice, or cream treats burns, dermatitis, blisters, and insect bites
  • decoction of the root treats diarrhea, colds, and fevers
  • hot-leaf poultice draws out thorns, splinters, venom, infection, and inflammation
  • fresh leaves applied externally treats frostbite
  • decoction of dried leaves is a bleeding suppressant
